Interview to a long time resident

    For this section we decided to interview one of our grandmothers about her thoughts of San Pablo, she told us she has been living here in San Pablo for almost 20 years already, she came to San Pablo since, long ago her husband lived in Curridabat and she lived in Palmares, so they decided they wanted to live in a place between both families. She was also a medical representative and her boss lived here in Heredia. At first, they wanted to live in Santo Domingo, but the person who built the house told them that San Pablo was a much quieter and more peaceful place, so was it. She described San Pablo as a very peaceful town with very humble people, small amount of infrastructure and a very unorganized cantonal government, with little business and few opportunities to grow. She talked to us about what she like most about San Pablo, among those included the accessibility to the whole country, San Pablo has so many entrances and shortcuts that they could avoid traffic jam easily every day and was very useful when they needed to travel to San José for work. She also loved San Pablo since it has a beautiful landscape with a lot of flowers in most houses and that beauty is not easy to find. Her best memories in this town involved her relationship with the neighbors, she said that long time ago they shared a lot but nowadays they barely can since they are people with very busy lives. We talked about how San Pablo has changed over the past years, and surprisingly the unique changes have been the neighbors, the population of people around here grew a lot, also more sidewalks have been constructed and streets have been progressively getting fixed. Finally, she told us she has liked San Pablo all the time, she has loved this place since the beginning until now, this is where some of the best moments of her life took place and she will never forget them, las but not least here is a quote she told is to always remember: “San Pablo is people, San Pablo is culture”.
